Personal boxing training
Boxing is a dynamic sport of constantly changing situations.
Learning to recognise those changes and adapt to them is what makes the sport so exhilarating.
Most of my clients are recreational boxers with no intention of fighting.
They deserve the chance to experience the sport this way — as it really is.
With that in mind, I developed a system for both competitive and recreational boxers.
I call it HEIST.
-
Understand what’s happening. Decide what to do.
Many boxers spend hours repeating combinations and techniques, sometimes without understanding why they work or when to use them.
This can lead to rehearsed, choreographed patterns.
But real boxing isn’t like that.
Things change constantly. The boxer must recognise what is happening and decide what to do.
I developed HEIST to teach the sport in a way that reflects how it actually unfolds.
I call it HEIST because it reflects the way I approach boxing — recognising an opportunity, taking it, and getting out safely.
I don’t tell you what to do.
I teach you how to decide. -
HEIST teaches boxing through the phases of an exchange.
Every exchange asks three questions:
• Where am I?
• What am I seeing?
• What should I do next?Answer those questions well and the sport starts to make sense — and becomes far more enjoyable.
That’s the thinking behind HEIST.
-
HEIST is for anyone who wants to understand and enjoy authentic boxing.
Whether that means competing, or simply developing skill on the pads and bags.
It works for complete beginners and experienced fighters.
It works for all ages and abilities. The system adapts to your goals and allows you to develop your own style.
-
HEIST focuses on learning boxing as a skill.
It is not boxercise or a weight-loss programme.
Fitness improves naturally through training, but the focus is always on understanding the sport and developing real skill.
Most people train simply because they enjoy learning.
Boxing becomes far more enjoyable when you learn to understand it.
